Thyalwaysseek - this is a new channel I've discovered on YouTube, by an in-yo-face Aussie gal. Check out this video about the recent massive blackout in the U.S. and Mexico that was blamed on a repair technician error. She thinks this is plain silly, that the blackout probably had to do with the recent X magnitude solar storm in early September. Five million homes without power because of one guy pressing the wrong button. ;-D And if it was a burnout of transformers, it's gonna take longer to restore power cause they'll have to replace them.
She does research on past blackouts and the record of solar flares.
She points out that Hurricane Katrina happened on 23 August 2005, and there was a double solar flare on 22 August as well as power outages.
Her beef is that no correlation is established in the media between mega solar flares and the risk of loss of power, and so people who should be taking precautions are having to connect the dots on their own and a lot of them simply aren't going to do it.
And her video "Comet Elenin, The Final Prospect" -- she reports on the apparent breaking up of Comet Elenin reported by the astronomer who discovered it, photos included.
