My last trip to the Phil. I went to Mount Banahaw for the first time. I would have tried to climb it but our seminar leader made us do a forced march through the river and I slipped and banged up my left shin pretty bad, twisted my left ankle too. Did you know there are at least 80 Christian sects in the Banahaw area? They are millenarians, i.e., believers in the Second Coming, many led by women called "supremas". Lots of school children and youth go there for picnics. It's an energetic center, this much is clear to me. Plenty of stories about enkantados, tikbalang, spirits -- though no mention of asuang or patianac. Thank Goodness!
